I was fired from a Fortune 500 company and was treated quite unjustly. On top, they didn't pay me my proper severance.

I have yet to return the company laptop after 4 months. It does not contain any confidential information.

They asked for it about 3 months ago, but have never heard from them since.

Can I just keep the darned thing?

I’m not licensed to practice law! But, from what it sounds like to me is that you do not have to file anything in FL, because your REG Agent/Company is in another state and your point of sale is in the state you are currently in. Look at it like an internet company, or Microsoft paid tech support. Although goods are ship, and services are renderd to other states, the point of sales remain wherever you are.

Firstly nobody will think your idea is any good, it will even be difficult getting an appointment in the first place, just try phoning any corporation. Once you get an appointment you need to go in with the idea mocked up as close as possible to the real thing. There will have to be a serious 'wow I wish I had thought of that' angle to get anybody interested and also to get a patent. There is an industry just waiting to prey on the hopeful new inventor however these days you can do the whole patent process online, internationally. Even applying for a US Provisional patent is not the cheapest way to go, apply for a UK patent and you get a year to pay any fees and your UK Filing Date is good for your Non-Provisional US Patent. Therefore if nobody is interested in a year, just abandon your patent and it has cost you nothing. If someone is interested the royalty advance can pay the fees. A great cheap Amazon ebook which explains all this is DIY Patent Online - you can read some of it free. They also have a website but aren't trying to sell their services, just telling you how to patent without an attorney. You can bet if anybody rubbishes this comment they are an attorney.

Great article Naomi,

However, I've found that it's better to hone in on the communities around the web where designers frequent, casting a smaller net than some of the suggested sites you mention above. I've listed a few of the resources I frequent here, hopefully you understand what I mean:

My Apple App is now available for downloads. Just type shoot that ball and you would be able to DL the app. Now, am looking for a proven business strategy and a succesful way in promoting my app. Please email me at: timdawg650@yahoo.com. Your help is greatly appreciated. About my app, this is the only shooting the basketball app on the App Store that you can take/upload a photo and use that as your background. Shoot as many balls as you like for 90 seconds and post your score in Facebook. Thanks!
