In mid-2008, Mr. Argente launched New Market Venture Management LLC on Sand Hill Road,  Menlo Park, California, to add to its presence in Hong Kong, China. The firm sources and evaluates PRIVATE EQUITY INVESTMENTS from the emerging economies of Asia and Middle East.

Since 2001, Mr. Argente is an independent EARLY STAGE VENTURE DEVELOPMENT professional working on investment origination, syndication & management. Mr. Argente acts as “lead entrepreneur” for new ventures deploying 15 years of international marketing experience as a management consultant and seven years as a serial entrepreneur. The investment criteria are: disruptive technologies that can redefine an industry with applications in global consumer markets.

From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Argente was an ENTREPRENEUR and built a 200+ professionals group of companies in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Mercatela provides internet-based communications strategy, IT & web services implementation to blue-chip companies throughout Asia Pacific.

From 1985 to mid-99, Mr. Argente was a MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT with international firms EDS/Electronic Data Systems (Hong Kong & China), KSA (Asia Pacific ex-Japan), CSC/Computer Sciences Corporation (US, Asia Pacific) and Gemini Consulting/The MAC Group (Hong Kong, Europe, US & Mexico). He became managing partner responsible for the Asia consulting division of EDS and KSA. Mr. Argente’s consulting scope included manufacturing / light industry, financial services (investment, private & commercial banking), consumer products/food & beverage, entertainment, IT services, enterprise solutions and business intelligence.

Mr. Argente gained a Master of International Management at the Thunderbird School of Global Business in Arizona, USA in 1983. Prior to that, Mr. Argente had obtained a BA in Business and an MBA degree from ESADE Business School in his native Barcelona, Spain, where he also did a 2-year internship working part-time in accounting and external audit with the local partner of Grant Thornton International.

Mr. Argente is fluent in English, Spanish and conversational French. He occasionally writes about direct investments and management in Asia and participates in speaking engagements.

Mr. Argente is an active volunteer advisor to graduating students of various MBA programs. He is married and spends his free time with his wife and their two very active children –12 & 14. The family has recently returned to Menlo Park, California, in the Bay area after five years in Vancouver, B.C., and nine years in Hong Kong.
