Entrepreneurs have an idea they research and chisel into service and product.  To make a significant difference in the marketplace acquiring a client is needed.  Why a client?  To help them, gain revenue, and find new ways to apply service and product.

There are five approaches to acquire a client:

  1. You call on them, answer their questions, demonstrate the usefulness of your service and/or product, and give them the information needed for them to make a buying decision.
  2. They come to know of you through marketing or word of mouth.  Examples can be hosting an event, trade show, or someone putting in a good word.
  3. Through networking you decide who can benefit and know how to have a conversation to start the sales process.
  4. You receive a referral from a client or friend.
  5. You provide educational information to peak their interest to do business with your company.

Can you list specific action items for the five approaches to acquire a client? By using all five approaches you’ll have a robust sales and marketing approach.  It’s important to know what you say and don’t say is key to acquiring a client.  The mindset (set of mental thoughts) is to be helpful.  If it makes sense, close the sale.  If not, tell them about someone who can help and ask questions to learn more about what they are looking for so you can be on the lookout for someone or something that can help.  By building a trustworthy relationship, you’ll have another ally in business.  There’s plenty of business for each of us.  Are you willing to be a part of the process (business as a calling)?

It’s fun to be a part of the team.  The team is better off with you than without.  So, get out there and help make better business.  It’s a fun challenge to grow.  You’ll meet people, form relationships, learn about interesting and new things happening in the community, and may become close friends with someone all because you had the motivation to acquire a client.  By acquiring and adding clients you make a larger difference in the marketplace.   Keep honing and refining your business skills so your company can win, grow, and evolve.  It’s fun to bring goodness and prosperity.
