Bryan Johnston is an entrepreneur, project manager, engineer, writer, etc. who enjoys living in different places, making art, chatting up strangers at cafes, and furiously trying to make sure he doesn’t miss out on anything. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in biomedical engineering and a pre-medical minor, and has gone on to pursue a number of opportunities in medical/tech/nonprofit project management, entrepreneurship, and writing.

In 2007, he joined Rocky Mountain Biologicals, Inc., a biochemical startup in Missoula MT. He was the third employee at RMBI, and during his time there the company moved from pre-production to profitability. From 2008-2009, He worked as Networked Medicine Coordinator at the USC Keck School of Medicine, where he managed the unification and development of the field of Body Computing, working with industry and academic partners to integrate wireless, internet, and networking technology into healthcare. During that time he also worked to develop the framework and business plan for HAY, LLC, a bioinformatics startup. In 2009 he co-founded graypigeon, an art-centered social networking and direct distribution startup. He spent much of the summer and fall of 2009 traveling the United States, writing fiction, promoting graypigeon, and working as a featured travel writer for USAtourist.com.

He settled in the bay area in 2010 and is currently writing his first novel, and working with Iridescent, an educational nonprofit, to connect underserved/under-represented kids with access to hands-on education, mentorship, inspiration, support, and confidence to achieve careers in math/science/engineering. As Director of Operations, San Francisco Bay Area, his responsibility is to expand the program throughout the region and beyond, reaching as many needy kids as possible.
