The holy grail of the startup company world is venture capital. There is a belief that getting funded by an institution that dares to call itself a venture capital firm will be validation enough to almost guarantee success. After all, these guys did not get rich by betting on losers. They will take their share and when the time is right, they will call their golfing buddies in the investment banking business and the next thing you know, your company will exit in an IPO or acquisition and everyone will be awash in cash. Right?

StartupCause event is a collaborative effort started by Entrepreneur Commons, First Tuesday, Startup School and Startup Weekend that brings together the leaders of the many initiatives dedicated helping entrepreneurs around the world.
While there are many of these initiatives offering many various formats in many different locations, there is no one single place for individuals or large organizations to go to if they want to learn about what is being done where, or if they want to implement a menu of programs that would help expand the entrepreneurial ecosystem locally, regionally, nationally or globally.
Building on the momentum that has been created by existing initiatives, StartupCause goal is to promote and support all these initiatives, and to provide tools to inspire and empower entrepreneurs to lead efforts that will boost entrepreneurship around the world.
