Review: I just read THE NEXT SPECIES by Michael Tennesen. This book asks whether humans will eventually go extinct. The answer is YES. There is a 99.99% chance that we will disappear in the next 100 million years. If you look back at earth’s history, there were five mass extinctions already:

1) Ordovician-Silurian mass extinction
2) Late Devonian mass extinction
3) Permian mass extinction
4) Triassic-Jurassic mass extinction
5) Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction

Arguably, we’re creating the next one ourselves with global climate change. Our only hope is that Elon Musk gets us to Mars in time. Only kidding! Even that may not save us for 100 million years.

If nothing else does, what will end our species is our own ingenuity. We will reengineer our bodies and minds using genetic modifications to the point where we won’t be human any more. Will this allow us to survive longer than the dinosaurs? I’m not sure.
